Special Announcement:
This Event will be dedicated to the memory of our recently departed dance friend, Peter DiSalvo.
He was a big supporter of our dance community and sent weekly dance information emails.
He was one of the regulars at the Ford Ballroom dances.
We will never forget the annual Summer Dance Parties that Peter hosted at his house, come rain or shine!
Every year he added to his house, making improvements for his next party.
In his memory, a portion of the admissions will be given to Dancers Tribute to Peter, a collection to help finish the projects that Peter was working on when he died.
(A donation to America's Wounded Heroes and Heart Association will also be made as was promised in previous arrangement.)
Peter, we will never forget your caring spirit and generosity to your friends and family, but we will miss you terribly!
Rest in peace, dear Friend.

      Fiesta del Rio    presented by the :                                            


      Ideal Group,
      Detroit Riverfront Conservancy
      Venegas Family, 
      Southwest Detroit Business Association
      Hacienda Mexican Foods in Detroit.
      comes to the West Riverfront Park on
      Saturday, August 27th from 11am - 10pm.
      The event will showcase the culture of southwest Detroit through :
      unique entertainment,
      activities,
      car show,
      ethnic food.
      Six local musical acts and dance troupes will provide entertainment at the festival’s main stage,

      followed by an evening performance by Grammy Award-winning band

      Ozomatli.

    A separate stage dedicated to children and youth programming will feature ;
    puppets,
    breakdancing,
    ballet,
    traditional folk dance troupes.
    Ten food vendors from the southwest Detroit community will provide Mexican, Dominican, and Venezuelan-inspired selections for purchase at the festival’s “Taste of Southwest Detroit” food court. 

    Local painters, ceramicists, sculptors, and visual artists will also be participating in the event and displaying their work.

    Featuring :
    live music including national headliner Ozomatli ,
    Low Rider Car Show,
    Taste of Southwest Detroit Food Court,
    artisians, family entertainment and more.



    Grammy Award-winning band Ozomatli will perform at the festival.

    General Motors  will be a sponsor of a hands-on robotics arena for children.

    The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
    Admission is $5
    on-site parking is $5.

    In recent years, the 20-acre West Riverfront Park, which opened two years ago at 1801 W. Jefferson Ave.  has been the site of several large-scale events and concerts .
