  • YA brings you Performers and Instructors Victor Contreras & Katia Morales, (Montreal) for a weekend of awesome workshops!

    Two time Canadian Salsa Champions
    Recently placed 2nd at the International World Hustle Championships in Orlando
    placed 3rd in the IHSC Salsa Championship in Olrando 2012

    Victor and Katia have represented Canada at numerous congresses and events in Mexico, Egypt, New York, San Francisco, Miami, Bermuda and all over Canada and Quebec. They have won 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in numerous competitions around the globe in both Hustle and Salsa, defining them amongst the best dancers in Canada and in the World.


    Workshop Schedule:
    12:30-1:25 Salsa 101 with YA Salsa Team (Beginner)
    1:30-2:25 Salsa Club Style (Fun combinations and partnerwork to throw down in the club)
    2:30-2:55 Refreshment Break
    3:00-3:55 Style it Out (Shines and Styling for flava)
    4:00-4:55 Musicality (Sync your moves to the music to look and feel smooth)

    Salsa 101 $10 or FREE with purchase of another workshop.
    Master workshops are $15 each or $35 for all three

DONNA SUMMER DEAD AFTER CANCER BATTLE




Donna Summer, the queen of disco, died Thursday morning after a battle with cancer, according to TMZ. She was 63.

TMZ reported she was in Florida at the time of her death. Sources told them she was trying to keep the extent of her illness under wraps, and was trying to finish up an album.

Summer was a five-time Grammy winner, who was best known for her 1970s and 1980s hits "Last Dance", "Hot Stuff", "Bad Girls", and "She Works Hard For The Money".

We're told Summer was in Florida at the time of her death. She was 63 years old.

Sources close to Summer tell us ... the singer was trying to keep the extent of her illness under wraps. We spoke to someone who was with Summer a couple of weeks ago ... who says she didn't seem too bad.

In fact, we're told she was focused on trying to finish up an album she had been working on.

Summer was a 5-time Grammy winner who shot to superstardom in the '70s with iconic hits like "Last Dance," "Hot Stuff" and "Bad Girls."

She continued her dominance in the '80s with "She Works Hard for the Money" and "This Time I Know It's for Real."

Summer and her producer Giorgio Moroder defined the dance music era of the '70s and influenced acts like Duran Duran and David Bowie to enter the genre.

Summer married Brooklyn Dreams singer Bruce Sudano back in 1980. They had two daughters together.

Ford Ballroom Dances are open to the public where everyone is welcome. Singles and couples are invited to join us at the Meeting House Grand Ballroom in Plymouth, where we will enjoy some lite refreshments, a large wooden dance floor, and wonderful selection of recorded ballroom dance music by Tom Walthall, the best ballroom dance party DJ.  We have over 150 people who are regulars  at our parties. Come join Detroit's largest and the most enjoyable dance party.
Barry Douglas - As an internationally recognized member of the dance community, Barry's training extends over 40 years covering 5 different genres of dance and his student base spans 17 countries. His certifications include Dance Masters of America, Dance Educators of America, the National Dance Council of America and the National Swing Dance Council.  Not to mention he is the world renown for his original version of the 3 count Hustle.
Some of the honors are:  Michigan State Hustle Championship for 21 years; The MI State Swing Dance Championship for 6 years; Virginia State Hustle Champion for 4 consecutive years and the 1995 US Hustle Champion.  Just to name a few.  Barry is currently teaching at Dance Pavilion. www.TheDancePavilion.com, Troy Dance Studio. www.TroyDanceStudio.com, and Dance Elite. www.Eliteballroom.com.

Ford Ballroom Dances are open to the public where everyone is welcome. Singles and couples are invited to join us at the Meeting House Grand Ballroom in Plymouth, where we will enjoy some lite refreshments, a large wooden dance floor, and wonderful selection of recorded ballroom dance music by Tom Walthall, the best ballroom dance party DJ.  We have over 150 people who are regulars  at our parties. Izabela Jaworska was born in Poland.  She started dancing ballet at age 5, began ballroom dancing when she was teenager, and shortly thereafter started competing in Latin and Ballroom styles of dance. Izabela has worked with the best coaches many years in London, the "heart of ballroom dancing".  She and her partner moved to US and now they own Come Dancing Studio in Saline, Michigan.
Some of the honors are:  Polish National Amateur Championship Standard finalists; Polish National 10-Dance Championship finalists; 4 times US National Professional Championship Semi-finalists; Winners of almost every Professional Rising Star title in the US.
Fees
Dance Admission (include dance lesson): $12.00
We will have Dance Shoes and Shoe brushes for sale in this event.
